A shaman with a mask-like face is chanting and singing to the spirit
world. He is holding a young boy who has been given up for dead. The
shaman has been summoned to try to bring the boy back to life. By drumming
and singing, the shaman calls on the animals of the air, land, and sea to
come to his assistance. He calls on them saying that this young boy has
not yet learned what life is all about. He has not been involved with the
hunt or heard all the myths and stories.
The young boy has gone to the afterlife, travelling through a tunnell
toward a bright light. As he travelled through the tunnell, he heard
birds, growling bears, and howling wolves, but the steady, constant beat
of a drum began to overtake his consciousness. He heard the distant drum,
and within the drum he heard his own heartbeat. The drum and the heartbeat
became louder and louder.
He began to be drawn back to the source of the
drumbeat and soon was back to the world of the living.
